From your Art Teacher, Ms. Strand
I am excited to share with you this link for Artsonia.com, an online portfolio I have been using to store and showcase student art this year.
Families are sent an email invitation to sign up and view their student’s artwork. In fact, the student work is only visible if parents have given permission in their settings. We have already uploaded over 2,000 pieces of art since October, and the family engagement and feedback has been very positive. I have recently started training 4th and 5th grade “art assistants” who come during recess to help with the huge job of uploading student work.
A few cool things:
Families can invite other friends/family to be “fans” (670 TM “fans” so far).
Families can leave comments for their students.
Students can even upload work using their own device.
Families can purchase merchandise with their student’s artwork on it (like t-shirts and mugs) and 20% is donated back for the TM art program (so far we have raised almost $300).
Finally a solution to student art getting lost between the art room and home.
Families can sign up to view their student’s work using the following information:

Student Advocacy Results in Tree Planting at Thurgood Marshall
Fifth graders Derek Bader, Juliette Jones, and Otis Woods have been working over the last year to have additional trees planted on our campus. Just before Thanksgiving, all this work came to fruition with the tree planting. All our new baby trees look wonderful on our campus. During this process, our students developed the skills of advocacy, organization, and planning—all which will help them in the workplace later on. Thank you for your work in making our campus more beautiful!
