Join Our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Team and Help Shape Our School Values!

The students and staff at Thurgood Marshall are excited to invite parents and guardians to join our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team. We believe that parent input is crucial in building school values and systems that truly reflect our wonderful community. The PBIS team is seeking 1-2 parents or guardians to actively participate and contribute their valuable insights.

At TM, we strive to create a positive and nurturing environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued. Our school expectations center around three core pillars: taking care of ourselves, taking care of each other, and taking care of our school. By incorporating these values into our daily lives, we foster a community that promotes empathy, responsibility, and growth.

To ensure that our school values and systems align with the needs and aspirations of our diverse community, the PBIS team is seeking enthusiastic parents or guardians to join our efforts. By becoming a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to help shape the foundation of our school culture and contribute to the development of strategies and initiatives that support our students’ social-emotional well-being.

The PBIS team comprises dedicated professionals who are committed to making our school a better place. Assistant Principal Cat Davidheiser, School Counselor Melissa Matsui, School Family Support Worker Danny Hawkins, and multiple teachers from different programs in the building are part of the team. By collaborating with these individuals, you will be able to share your ideas, experiences, and perspectives to influence positive change.

The PBIS team meets once a month for an hour, providing a convenient opportunity for busy parents and guardians to actively participate. During these meetings, we discuss ongoing initiatives, review data, brainstorm ideas, and develop strategies to enhance the school’s positive climate. Your input and involvement will be highly valued and greatly appreciated.

If you are interested in joining the PBIS team and contributing to the growth and success of our school, please reach out to Assistant Principal Cat Davidheiser. You can contact her via email at csdavidheise@seattleschools.org. Your involvement will make a significant difference in the lives of our students and the entire school community.

Together, as a collaborative team, we can continue to foster a supportive and inclusive school environment that promotes kindness, responsibility, and respect. Join us today and help us shape the future of TM!
