TM Community Night

Thursday, May 27th, 2021, Volume 15 Issue 91

Each year, we have a Community Night to bring our whole school together. This year, our theme is “A Celebration of Literacy!” We will have sessions for parents and students of all ages between 6-7:20 PM. You will not want to miss this! Whether you have a child who loves to be read to or a tween into graphic novels, there is something for everyone! Parents will have a chance to learn more about the Science of Reading, and you can choose to hear this information in English from Literacy Connector Trinia Washington, or from our English Language Learning staff in Spanish, Somali or Vietnamese!

Since the event is virtual, you don’t even need to leave the house. Just click on the Microsoft Teams meeting link for the sessions you want to attend. This is a great way to kick off your child’s excitement for summer reading.

Note: Sessions 1 and 3 are geared towards students. Session 2 is mostly offerings for parents. During Session 2, students should attend the first session listed: Bookmarks: Celebrate Black Voices.

Last day for ordering TM t-shirts and sweatshirts is Thursday May 27th!

Get your order in online at http://tinyurl.com/TM-Shirt-Order-Form-2021 for delivery the last week of school. Be ready in September for showing off your Thurgood Marshall pride on the first day of school!

Reclaiming Our Greatness (transformativeoutcomes.org), a grassroots nonprofit provides case management and equitable access to education and housing resources for King County families.

ROG has partnered with the Washington State Department of Commerce to create an assessment to receive feedback on community childcare needs and accessibility. We invite you to participate in this assessment, link provided below, which will help develop a sustainable plan for future piloted services, who will have an interest in starting childcare programs, for families that are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness! After completing their assessment, families will be gifted a $50 Visa gift card (while supplies last).

ROG also has partnered with King County to assist tenants in the KC Eviction Prevention and Rental Assistance Program. If you or your family is behind on rent, you can contact their outreach team to assist you with the interest form or answer any questions. Numbers are provided below.
